Recorrimos el Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco Spa & Hotel @sofitelmontevideo y seguimos sorprendiéndonos de este patrimonio histórico nacional, emblema montevideano por excelencia y símbolo de una arquitectura de estilo ecléctica historicista francesa, con claras reminiscencias de los palacetes europeos, y toques clásicos y barrocos. ¡Miren lo que son esas escaleras monumentales, las mansardas, los vitreaux! Lo que nos fascina del Sofitel es que mantiene intactos tanto esa fachada impactante como ese exquisito interiorismo, incluso con reformas que lograron recuperar su estilo original. ¡Es un total disfrute pasear por su recepción y salones! Cabe recordar que el otrora Hotel Casino Carrasco cumplió 100 años en febrero de 2021. Se inauguró el 29 de enero de 1921 con un “gran dinner concert”, según se recuerda en crónicas de la época. Pronto se volvió en el “lugar de encuentro de la sociedad rioplatense”, indican desde la Comisión de Patrimonio Histórico. La construcción de un hotel en esa ubicación fue idea de don Alfredo Arocena y se le encargó al paisajista francés Charles Thays convertir la zona en un gran barrio jardín para luego emprender la obra, cuyo proyecto ganador corresponde a los arquitectos suizos Jacques Durant y Gastón Mallet. Fue el arquitecto Félix Elena quien prosiguió la obra. Tras su traspaso a manos municipales, adquiere muchísimo protagonismo Eugenio Baroffio en los aportes y posteriores ampliaciones. En 2009, en licitación internacional, se adjudica al consorcio Sofitel su remodelación y acondicionamiento, proyecto del estudio IAG Arquitectura que logró una “excelente recuperación del edificio desde el punto de vista espacial y funcional”, concuerda la Sociedad de Arquitectos. ¡Bien vale ir a visitar esta obra de arte! #hotel #hotelcasino #sofitel #spa #sofitelmontevideo #carrasco #patrimoniohistorico #casasymas #montevideo #uruguay #2022
