While visiting Las Vegas, I learned of an abandoned casino and hotel that was just out of town. I hired a car, even though Americans drive on the wrong side of the road, and went to document it alone. Somewhere in the desert was Terrible's Roadhouse, formerly called Gold Strike. While exploring the offices upstairs, I found photos from when the building was operational. This included a large folder of photo slides! I was eager to save and share the images, so I took them with me. I carefully carried the photos and slides for a further two weeks before flying back home to Australia, where I got them scanned. After 4 years of great adventure, we left Hong Kong in late July 1993, returning back to our Lake Tapps home. Instead of flying straight back, we took the "long way". Wendy arranged a bus tour of Europe for all five of us, and Don arranged a visit the Edinburgh area for a few days prior to starting the bus tour. This 18th video was taken August 14. We paid a somber visit to Monte Casino where a critical WWII battle was fought and many died. Wendy's dad Ken was injured there as well. Unfortunately, we didn't take any video or pictures while visiting so this shows it from a distance from the bus. we next travelled to Sorento where we took a boat to Capri for some excellent sightseeing and a visit to the Blue Grotto, a cave used by royalty in the days of the Romans.
